Winter Wonderland

James' daycare had a wonderful Christmas party for the kids and James was able to sit with Santa again. James is starting to understand how Santa works and James asked Santa for a football. Afterwards James said to us, "I asked Santa for a football and all I got was a candy cane." No worries though, there is already a football under the tree! It snowed a couple of inches earlier this week and James was so excited. Tobias and James each have their own snow shovel. James was going to shovel snow for me yesterday. It ended up that Daddy shoveled and James played in the snow! This morning we played at the park and played in the snow. James had a blast playing outside in the park! We hope this video turns out - it is super funny! James had a blast on this slide, he did it about 10 times!

Go Navy! Beat Army!

Go Navy, Navy, Navy! Beat Army, Army, Army! I'm doing this update while watching the 111th Army-Navy game. Check out James proudly wearing Navy Blue and Gold! Definitely a future midshipmen and Tobias thinks Navy tight end. This morning we went to Tobias' squadron for the Children's Christmas Party! James was able to sit with Santa and even got an early Christmas present! This will be a very special Christmas this year, for many reasons. James is super excited about opening Christmas presents. Here he is checking out some of the presents already under our tree. This Christmas will also be special because we are mourning the loss of our baby. This is a picture of our first ultrasound at about 12 weeks. We heard a healthy heart beat and the baby was moving around. Unfortunately, at my 14 week appointment there was no fetal heart beat to be found. We are very upset for the loss of one child, but are so thankful for our James who continues to brighten our lives. My m...

Happy 3rd Birthday James!

James wanted a football cake for his birthday this year, so we found a local bakery who made a fabulous cake for James! We lit the candles... Sang Happy Birthday... And blew out the candles... After cake and ice cream it was time for... Opening presents - and James loved his presents! He's is so excited about coloring (he's learning to write his letters) and loves anything Diego! Of course, ripping off the pretty wrapping paper was part of the fun! It was a quiet birthday this year, but it was so much fun! Hard to believe Sweet Baby James is already 3 years old!

Happy Halloween

James and his best buddies - Abby and Drew - were the some of cutest kids out trick-or-treating tonight! They were Toy Story characters. James sure enjoyed dressing up in his costume this year. He got lots and lots of candy! What a fun evening! Happy Halloween!

Getting Settled In

This has been a pretty quiet month while we get settled in. James and Bandit play together a lot and I thought this was a funny picture. Isn't there a saying about how owners and their dogs look alike? I don't know about that, but they sure are both cute! I took this picture last night. James told us he was camping with Bandit! The biggest news this month was buying a new car - a minivan actually. James loves the van. I think he mostly enjoys all the extra leg room and space for everything. We took our first long drive up to PA a few weeks ago, and even Bandit got to come with us! Last weekend we went up to Annapolis for James' first Navy football game. He had a blast! He just kept saying "Awsome!" over and over again. There've been a lot of changes to the stadium since Tobias and I graduated from the Academy. One cool change was this Blue Angels jet. James and Tobias before the game - so much fun!

Lots to Update!

The last several weeks have been a logistical nightmare. But we are now settled in our new home in Maryland. I'll use this blog to catch everyone up on the past several weeks and all the excitement. Before we left San Diego, we went to the USS Midway, which is a decommissioned US Navy aircraft carrier that is now a museum in the San Diego harbor. It also happens to be my step-dad's ship from when he was in the Navy. James was fearless on the flight deck and ran right out to the very front. He was definitely more comfortable on the deck than inside the ship - turns out the kid is pretty claustrophobic. Tobias' mom came out to San Diego to help us with the move so she was able to join us on the tour. The day after the Midway tour, Tobias' mom, James, and I started our journey East. Tobias stayed in San Diego to finish up his training. The drive went very smoothly and it took us 2 days to make it to Denver and then a half day to make it to KS where I left Tobias' ...
