Saying Goodbye to Daddy

Tobias left for deployment about a week and a half ago and we're doing well so far. We hear from him almost every day via email. He'll be gone for about 7 months, but we're already anxiously awaiting his return. The day before Tobias left his squadron had a change of command ceremony, which is why he was all dressed up in chokers in the above picture. He looks pretty impressive with the medal and ribbons. The morning Tobias left we were able to escort him aboard his ship, USS BOONE (FFG 28). This picture was taken by one of the Sailors. James seems to be more interested in looking at the flight deck than the camera, but Tobias looks great!

For a baby who once hated being on his stomach, he's sure grown to love it. This is how I found James when he woke up from a nap last week. He is now able to roll over to from his back to his stomach and his stomach to his back. Pretty exciting!
Sweet boy!
This past weekend James and I flew up to New Hampshire to visit with Jill, my roommate at the Academy all 4 years! I hadn't seen Jill in a while - before Tobias and I were married actually. Since then Jill has done 2 tours in Iraq as a Marine Corps Logistics Officer.

As you can tell from the picture, Jill is engaged. We were able to attend her bridal shower this weekend, which was beautiful! Jill's wedding will take place in CA next month.

This is a sweet video of Jill playing with James. He is laughing up a storm. It's great to hear him laugh again because Tobias was really the only one who got him laugh.

Hey Sispot! So the first time I checked out this blog was on my phone, and it couldn't load the video - I just came back because I wanted to see more pictures of James, and I was finally able to see the video with Jill - so PRICELESS! James was so cute giggling all over the place like that - and I love Jill coaching him - "Mmmmmmmama! MMmmmmmama! Just a hint!" So cute !!!

Fast as the Flash

The boys have a need for speed!  Recently James and Eli built Pine Wood derby cars to compete in the James' Boy Scout troop. In the beginning... We did some scholarly research to prepare.  Thank you YouTube! My step-dad, AKA Pawpaw was a big help and taught James to use power tools. Sanding is always fun! James designed and built his car with minimal assistance. Spray paint is always fun. Added weights to make it as heavy as the rules allowed. The finished products! The race was a lot of fun! James didn't win but he worked really hard and was really proud of his car. While his derby car wasn't the fastest, James was the fastest in a recent track race.  My future Olympic sprinter!   Zoom zoom zoom

Everyone grab their Mickey Ears!  We just returned from a wonderful vacation to Walt Disney World.  We flew down to FL from MA, my sister and her beautiful family and my aunt and cousin all flew from CA, and my mom traveled from MO!   All 11 of us stayed in one beautiful villa right on the Walt Disney property and had a great time. We celebrated JillMama's 60th birthday in style.   We also celebrated my nephew's 2nd birthday while in WDW! Everyone had a great time! We celebrated Halloween a little early at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!   Can you tell we're the Avengers!?!  Eli was the Incredible Hulk, Tobias was Tony Stark (AKA Iron Man), James was Captain America, and I was Black Widow. By the end of the night, the Incredible Hulk was done, but still really cute! Gabe (age 4) and James got along great! Elias and Gavin (also 2) were fast friends too. Fun times on a ride with my little man! Rrrr Matey!  ...

Winter in Boston

Happy February!  I can't believe I haven't updated since November when we've had such an exciting couple of months!   Our Lego family for Christmas 2014 designed by James!  There are a lot of firsts and developmental milestones in first grade!  James finished his first chapter book over the Christmas break!  So proud of him - he is reading above grade level. James also remains very active with track and is working with his gym teacher to start a running club at his elementary school! This was a fun assignment for the entire family.  Once he completed the assignment, James presented it to his class. We did family Christmas pictures this year with a great photographer.  We met at Minute Man National Park - where Paul Revere was captured- and had fun taking pictures together.  I worked the night before and it was cold out, but the pictures still turned out great! The 2014 Walters Family Christmas picture! My two cuti...
