We Survived Tropical Storm Fay!

We have received a lot of rain the last two days, but we've made it through the storm. We lost power for most of the last night and this afternoon, but other than that, it was uneventful. We were able to take the dog for a quick walk yesterday morning. James loves his walks with Bandit. He actually crawled into his stroller this afternoon, I guess trying to tell me he wanted his walk! With the rain we've had lots of time to read. We're reading 'Gifted Hands' by Ben Carson. It's a wonderful story and I think James is really getting motivated to study hard and have faith that God has wonderful plans for him too! =)To help me prepare for the storm James checked the weather on the laptop. He loves the computer. James also helped me take Tobias' truck to the shop earlier this week. He wasn't too sure about that truck though.

In other exciting James news, he's eating a lot and is only drinking from sippy cups!
Sweet potatoes are his favorite! Yummy Yummy! Now you can really see those top teeth!
Apples are another hit, but he will only eat them whole. He does a great job taking bites off the apple now that he has 4 teeth. As a note, that is a normal sized Gala apple, James' hands are really that big.Bandit really enjoys all the food James drops for him. I thought this was one of the funniest things ever! James 'accidentally' dropped sweet potatoes followed by a lone Cheerio on Bandit's nose. Bandit had no idea what happened - I did clean up Bandit as soon as I took the picture.

Ahh, the Cheerio explosion. I keep James' diaper bags on the floor near one of our side tables. I had given him some puffs earlier, and I keep Cheerios in a puffs container in one of the diaper bags. James found the puff container in the diaper bag, opened it and poured out the Cheerios and then munched away. When I walked over he offered me a handful. It was so funny! I just laughed and grabbed the camera.
Our good friend Chris was down from PA, where he's a NROTC instructor at Villanova. Chris was here for the weekend to attend a friend's wedding. Chris was just down here in early July, and was so surprised at how much James had changed in the past weeks.
Notice James' expression in this picture - I call it his stinker face. It was great to see Chris, but he was a bit down because he had just lost everything (except his Beamer) in large fire that burned his apartment building. James did his best to cheer him up though.
James enjoys playing a lot. I think the look of concentration with this toy is hilarious.
James is a very happy and healthy baby. He's at a wonderful age and I enjoy being with him. Our lives will drastically change on Monday when I start school again and James starts daycare. James has already met his new teacher and seemed to really like her.

I can't believe how quickly he is growing up. No crib, no bottle. He is such a big boy. All smiles, just too cute!!!

Fast as the Flash

The boys have a need for speed!  Recently James and Eli built Pine Wood derby cars to compete in the James' Boy Scout troop. In the beginning... We did some scholarly research to prepare.  Thank you YouTube! My step-dad, AKA Pawpaw was a big help and taught James to use power tools. Sanding is always fun! James designed and built his car with minimal assistance. Spray paint is always fun. Added weights to make it as heavy as the rules allowed. The finished products! The race was a lot of fun! James didn't win but he worked really hard and was really proud of his car. While his derby car wasn't the fastest, James was the fastest in a recent track race.  My future Olympic sprinter!   Zoom zoom zoom

Everyone grab their Mickey Ears!  We just returned from a wonderful vacation to Walt Disney World.  We flew down to FL from MA, my sister and her beautiful family and my aunt and cousin all flew from CA, and my mom traveled from MO!   All 11 of us stayed in one beautiful villa right on the Walt Disney property and had a great time. We celebrated JillMama's 60th birthday in style.   We also celebrated my nephew's 2nd birthday while in WDW! Everyone had a great time! We celebrated Halloween a little early at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!   Can you tell we're the Avengers!?!  Eli was the Incredible Hulk, Tobias was Tony Stark (AKA Iron Man), James was Captain America, and I was Black Widow. By the end of the night, the Incredible Hulk was done, but still really cute! Gabe (age 4) and James got along great! Elias and Gavin (also 2) were fast friends too. Fun times on a ride with my little man! Rrrr Matey!  ...

Winter in Boston

Happy February!  I can't believe I haven't updated since November when we've had such an exciting couple of months!   Our Lego family for Christmas 2014 designed by James!  There are a lot of firsts and developmental milestones in first grade!  James finished his first chapter book over the Christmas break!  So proud of him - he is reading above grade level. James also remains very active with track and is working with his gym teacher to start a running club at his elementary school! This was a fun assignment for the entire family.  Once he completed the assignment, James presented it to his class. We did family Christmas pictures this year with a great photographer.  We met at Minute Man National Park - where Paul Revere was captured- and had fun taking pictures together.  I worked the night before and it was cold out, but the pictures still turned out great! The 2014 Walters Family Christmas picture! My two cuti...
