I finally have some time to do a new post - Spring Break is here! While most of my friends from nursing school will be off traveling to fun places, I'm just going to stay around here and enjoy lots of time with Tobias and James.
Favorite food - he enjoys any type of fruit, but loves grapes. This past week he's tried kiwi for the first time and it was a big hit! While he really enjoys fruit, James also enjoyed a homemade cherry pie sent by Grandma Walters!

Since it's been a while since I updated the blog, here are some new things about James.

Favorite pass time - reading books. He'll grab a book and bring it to you and then sit in your lap. Sometimes he'll "read" to himself too, which is pretty funny to watch. He also enjoys playing duets with Grandma Lorrin on Saturday nights!
Favorite book - Touch and Feel Farm. We're reading The Wind in the Willows aloud right now and he seems to enjoy that one too.

Best friend - Daddy with Bandit (our dog) in a close second. Here are Tobias and James feeding some ducks right outside our house.
Shoe size - 7. That's huge for a 16 month old!
Height - 34 inches. Which means he'll be taller than 6 foot someday. The deal is your adult height is about double your height at age 2.
Weight - 28 pounds.

Favorite toy - his big yellow dump truck

New skills - jumping, kicking the soccer ball, dancing (stomping, clapping, and turning around in circles at the same time), somersaults, and my personal favorite vacuuming!

Vocabulary - dada, mama (which can mean mommy or more or milk or help me), baba (Bandit, our dog), baby, duga (dog), terter (Aunt Teri), gama (grandma), papa (grandpa), duc (duck). Those are the words we hear, but his teachers say he says please, his own name, and the names of his friends and teachers.
It's pretty neat to watch how his comprehension skills have changed. At this point he understands pretty much everything we ask or tell him. But he's also figured out that he can pretend he doesn't understand. So you'll tell him something you know he understands, he'll look at you for a moment, and then decide whether or not to actually listen. The joys of toddlerhood and the challenges of discipline!
As anyone who has spent time around toddlers can attest, they are all about their independence. James is totally into doing things himself, which is wonderful. Messy, but wonderful!
We're so blessed to watch him grow and learn new things.
