Farm, Fair, and Family

James has had an exciting summer with trips to California for Aunt Marthaa's wedding, trips to the beach and aquarium, and fun under the sun at the pool. To wrap up his summer James went to visit his grandparents on the farm. Tobias and I weren't along on this trip and James sure was spoiled!
To keep track of James while he roamed around Tobias' family's farm in Kansas, he wore a bright orange hunters hat.
James loves animals, especially dogs. James really enjoyed the Boarder Collies on the farm. On the move! James loved running all around the farm. He only stopped to eat and sleep!
James also enjoyed helping Grandma Edie water her garden.
Uncle Kyle and James had a great time together. Here's Uncle Kyle and James getting ready for football season - "Touchdown!"
This is my favorite picture of the entire trip. Here's James running down the driveway to Grandma and Grandpa's farm.
Here's a picture at the grain elevator where Grandpa Jim works. This is Aunt Crystal, Grandpa Jim, Aunt Teri, and James.
There may not be any ocean front property in Kansas, but there's a small lake that James really enjoyed! Here's James swimming with Aunt Teri and Uncle Kyle. I think this is the first time Uncle Kyle has worn shorts since the mid-1980s.
Uncle Josh was able to make it back while James was in Kansas too. Here's a great picture of Uncle Josh, James, and Aunt Teri.
While James definitely enjoyed his visit with his family, he really enjoyed his time with Grandpa Jim.Here's a happy kid running to his Grandpa!
Grandma Edie, Grandpa Jim, and James are off to have some more fun!
While in Kansas James was able to get his first taste of a fair food at the county fair. I don't know if Tobias or I would ever give James chili cheese fries, but he enjoyed sharing some with Grandpa Jim.
James followed up the fries with a corn dog! And ice cream for dessert!
After all the good fair food, here's James enjoying a ride at the fair!
A video of James and Aunt Teri enjoying the meri-go-round. James' first time flying his own airplane.
A video of James showing off his flying skills. Do we have another aviator in the family? One of the neatest thing of rural fairs is the livestock. Here's Grandpa Jim showing James a calf. James' also enjoyed playing some of the games at the fair.
James was fortunate enough to spend some time with his Great-Grandma Leah. James got all dressed up for a cousin's wedding in Colorado. Doesn't he look dashing in that tie?

Fast as the Flash

The boys have a need for speed!  Recently James and Eli built Pine Wood derby cars to compete in the James' Boy Scout troop. In the beginning... We did some scholarly research to prepare.  Thank you YouTube! My step-dad, AKA Pawpaw was a big help and taught James to use power tools. Sanding is always fun! James designed and built his car with minimal assistance. Spray paint is always fun. Added weights to make it as heavy as the rules allowed. The finished products! The race was a lot of fun! James didn't win but he worked really hard and was really proud of his car. While his derby car wasn't the fastest, James was the fastest in a recent track race.  My future Olympic sprinter!   Zoom zoom zoom

Everyone grab their Mickey Ears!  We just returned from a wonderful vacation to Walt Disney World.  We flew down to FL from MA, my sister and her beautiful family and my aunt and cousin all flew from CA, and my mom traveled from MO!   All 11 of us stayed in one beautiful villa right on the Walt Disney property and had a great time. We celebrated JillMama's 60th birthday in style.   We also celebrated my nephew's 2nd birthday while in WDW! Everyone had a great time! We celebrated Halloween a little early at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!   Can you tell we're the Avengers!?!  Eli was the Incredible Hulk, Tobias was Tony Stark (AKA Iron Man), James was Captain America, and I was Black Widow. By the end of the night, the Incredible Hulk was done, but still really cute! Gabe (age 4) and James got along great! Elias and Gavin (also 2) were fast friends too. Fun times on a ride with my little man! Rrrr Matey!  ...

Winter in Boston

Happy February!  I can't believe I haven't updated since November when we've had such an exciting couple of months!   Our Lego family for Christmas 2014 designed by James!  There are a lot of firsts and developmental milestones in first grade!  James finished his first chapter book over the Christmas break!  So proud of him - he is reading above grade level. James also remains very active with track and is working with his gym teacher to start a running club at his elementary school! This was a fun assignment for the entire family.  Once he completed the assignment, James presented it to his class. We did family Christmas pictures this year with a great photographer.  We met at Minute Man National Park - where Paul Revere was captured- and had fun taking pictures together.  I worked the night before and it was cold out, but the pictures still turned out great! The 2014 Walters Family Christmas picture! My two cuti...
