The big move!

The Walters have moved again!  This is the 3rd sates James has lived in and he's not even 6 yet!  Both boys have handled the move very well and we are all enjoying our new home in Cambridge, MA.
Boxes, boxes everywhere!  So we decided to make a fort!

We are so fortunate to have found a great school for James.  He enjoys his new teacher and friends.  We are also keeping in touch with our friends from MD and FL too!

James' first day of school in MA!  Look at those beautiful Fall colors.
His new cubby!
But with all these changes the boys have enjoyed lots of cuddle time too!
And the entire reason we have moved here is for Tobias to attend graduate school at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  It's an awesome experience for our entire family!

Tobias will start school in January.  It will take him about a year and a half to finish his program.
Tobias' parents are proud of him too!
Perhaps James will follow in his father's footsteps?!  He's our little engineer for sure!

Tobias' parents flew out to help with our move.  They flew in to Baltimore and stayed with us in MD for a few days and then flew home from MA!  We enjoyed a great visit.
Grandpa took sometime from unpacking to show James how to tie his first pair of lace up shoes!
Grandpa, Tobias, and James worked together to assemble the boys' new bunk bed.  One of the major selling points of the move was that the boys would get a bunk bed!  They love sharing a room!
Grandma helped unpack a lot, but she was able to get in some special time with Eli too.
Nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby!
Cambridge has a lot of great parks that the boys are enjoying.
Always good to monkey around!
Our actual move date was on Tobias' birthday.  So we celebrated with a pizza party in our empty apartment.  James says it is probably one of the best birthday parties ever!
And cake for dessert!
It was difficult to leave our friends in MD.  After 3 years we developed some strong friendships.
This is our going party at our Bible study.  Honestly, this is the regular crowd at our leader's home!  We miss each and every person!
I don't think moving is as difficult when you have your brother at your side!
Family picture!
It was difficult to say goodbye to my wonderful coworkers as well.  I learned so much in my time there.
The boys and their best buddies - who are also moving!
We spent a special day at the pumpkin patch with one of James' best friends before we moved.

James enjoyed getting his face painted.
Both my boys had a great time.
Cheese!
Even time for a fun ride!
These 3 kids really enjoy being friends.  For a size reference, the girl is "average" height.  James and his buddy were the biggest kids in the class.
Fearless Eli!  He thinks he's about 5.
James leads Elias through the maze.
And before we left MD we also had to say goodbye to the Naval Academy.
In September we celebrated our 10 year class reunion.  It was an amazing weekend.
Perhaps the next great Naval Officer in the family?
The Walters family with Bill the Goat.
The view from the sea wall at the Academy.  It was a beautiful weekend.
Heading to the chapel.

Tobias has accomplished so much since he enlisted back in 1996.  Look at all those awards!  Not too shabby for a farm kid from Kansas!

I enjoy showing little parts of James' personality in the blog as well.
He is my little reader now.  He is doing great with his reading skills.  We are so proud of him!
James dressed himself for church a couple of weeks ago.  Needless to say, we went shopping for some bigger clothes later on that day.  The shirt and pants were loose in the Spring!

We enjoyed a special visit from our dear friend, Julie, from FL before our move.  The boys are always so spoiled when she visits!
We had a special "just because Ms. Julie is here and she loves us" cake!
Lots of memories created with this visit.  They used every single MegaBlock in the house!
And of course some new toys were enjoyed!
Outdoor time is always something we enjoy.  We took advantage of the great late summer weather and rode our bikes - a lot!
Lovely day on the trail.
Family self pic!
Two handsome biker dudes!
And handsome biker baby!

Sometimes when we needed a break from bike riding, we'd play at the park!

And sometimes when you play hard - you sleep hard!

Fast as the Flash

The boys have a need for speed!  Recently James and Eli built Pine Wood derby cars to compete in the James' Boy Scout troop. In the beginning... We did some scholarly research to prepare.  Thank you YouTube! My step-dad, AKA Pawpaw was a big help and taught James to use power tools. Sanding is always fun! James designed and built his car with minimal assistance. Spray paint is always fun. Added weights to make it as heavy as the rules allowed. The finished products! The race was a lot of fun! James didn't win but he worked really hard and was really proud of his car. While his derby car wasn't the fastest, James was the fastest in a recent track race.  My future Olympic sprinter!   Zoom zoom zoom

M-I-C-K-E-Y and a bunch of other fun stuff

Everyone grab their Mickey Ears!  We just returned from a wonderful vacation to Walt Disney World.  We flew down to FL from MA, my sister and her beautiful family and my aunt and cousin all flew from CA, and my mom traveled from MO!   All 11 of us stayed in one beautiful villa right on the Walt Disney property and had a great time. We celebrated JillMama's 60th birthday in style.   We also celebrated my nephew's 2nd birthday while in WDW! Everyone had a great time! We celebrated Halloween a little early at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!   Can you tell we're the Avengers!?!  Eli was the Incredible Hulk, Tobias was Tony Stark (AKA Iron Man), James was Captain America, and I was Black Widow. By the end of the night, the Incredible Hulk was done, but still really cute! Gabe (age 4) and James got along great! Elias and Gavin (also 2) were fast friends too. Fun times on a ride with my little man! Rrrr Matey!  ...

Winter in Boston

Happy February!  I can't believe I haven't updated since November when we've had such an exciting couple of months!   Our Lego family for Christmas 2014 designed by James!  There are a lot of firsts and developmental milestones in first grade!  James finished his first chapter book over the Christmas break!  So proud of him - he is reading above grade level. James also remains very active with track and is working with his gym teacher to start a running club at his elementary school! This was a fun assignment for the entire family.  Once he completed the assignment, James presented it to his class. We did family Christmas pictures this year with a great photographer.  We met at Minute Man National Park - where Paul Revere was captured- and had fun taking pictures together.  I worked the night before and it was cold out, but the pictures still turned out great! The 2014 Walters Family Christmas picture! My two cuti...
