Elias is 2

Happy Birthday to our little Elias! Hard to believe he is now two years old. Happy Anniversary to Tobias and I - today is our 9th wedding anniversary as well.
Elias enjoyed his birthday cupcake!
Tasty birthday cupcake cake!
We celebrated a couple of days early while Grandpa Mel was still visiting.
Elias' favorite food is pizza so we ordered in pizza for his birthday dinner.
We've enjoyed a wonderful month of December.  The boys really enjoyed the Advent season and were really excited for the arrival of Christmas.  Grandpa Mel flew in from California to celebrate Christmas with us and we all enjoyed a great visit.
Elias and Tobias enjoyed helping each other open their Christmas present.
James didn't need any help opening up his presents!

Elias' favorite present was a ukulele.  He loves music.

James asked for this special chair - complete with a book light, cup holder, and back massager!

James also received a Kindle Fire HD.  He's been looking forward to this gift for months and months.  Of course there are very strict parental controls, but we are excited for him to enjoy his own tablet.
And the Christmas aftermath.  Looks like an explosion of fun gifts.

This is the Christmas card we sent out to many friends and family members.

There is so much history in Boston.  While my dad was visiting we took a tour of the USS CONSTITUTION.
There was a great museum associated with the ship and we all learned a lot.  James thinks it would be fun to sleep in a hammock.

I realize this is in reverse chronological order!  Below are some pictures of Thanksgiving.

We visited Plymouth, MA in mid-November.

There's the Mayflower - quiet possibly the smallest ocean going vessel I've ever seen.

And there's Plymouth Rock.  It's pretty small in person.  I always expected a boulder, but it is honestly just a rock.

Just the sweetest thing I've ever seen.  James' homework from school.

We celebrated Thanksgiving with dear friends of ours from when we lived in Jacksonville.  James and Lyla had a great time together.  There are pictures of them together on this blog from 2008!  It was so sweet to watch them together again as big kids.

We had four of the cutest kids celebrating Thanksgiving together.  It was truly a wonderful night.
We are living less than 2 hours from Newport, RI where Tobias lived in 1998.
Tobias attended the Naval Academy Prep School (NAPS) as part of the class of 1999.

Tobias and I right near where Tobias lived.

Enjoying one of Newport's landmarks - the Newport Creamery - where we enjoyed tasty Awful Awfuls.

James loves the cold weather.  Here he is all bundled up for school complete with his face mask and hot cocoa.

Happy New Year!

Fast as the Flash

The boys have a need for speed!  Recently James and Eli built Pine Wood derby cars to compete in the James' Boy Scout troop. In the beginning... We did some scholarly research to prepare.  Thank you YouTube! My step-dad, AKA Pawpaw was a big help and taught James to use power tools. Sanding is always fun! James designed and built his car with minimal assistance. Spray paint is always fun. Added weights to make it as heavy as the rules allowed. The finished products! The race was a lot of fun! James didn't win but he worked really hard and was really proud of his car. While his derby car wasn't the fastest, James was the fastest in a recent track race.  My future Olympic sprinter!   Zoom zoom zoom

M-I-C-K-E-Y and a bunch of other fun stuff

Everyone grab their Mickey Ears!  We just returned from a wonderful vacation to Walt Disney World.  We flew down to FL from MA, my sister and her beautiful family and my aunt and cousin all flew from CA, and my mom traveled from MO!   All 11 of us stayed in one beautiful villa right on the Walt Disney property and had a great time. We celebrated JillMama's 60th birthday in style.   We also celebrated my nephew's 2nd birthday while in WDW! Everyone had a great time! We celebrated Halloween a little early at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!   Can you tell we're the Avengers!?!  Eli was the Incredible Hulk, Tobias was Tony Stark (AKA Iron Man), James was Captain America, and I was Black Widow. By the end of the night, the Incredible Hulk was done, but still really cute! Gabe (age 4) and James got along great! Elias and Gavin (also 2) were fast friends too. Fun times on a ride with my little man! Rrrr Matey!  ...

Winter in Boston

Happy February!  I can't believe I haven't updated since November when we've had such an exciting couple of months!   Our Lego family for Christmas 2014 designed by James!  There are a lot of firsts and developmental milestones in first grade!  James finished his first chapter book over the Christmas break!  So proud of him - he is reading above grade level. James also remains very active with track and is working with his gym teacher to start a running club at his elementary school! This was a fun assignment for the entire family.  Once he completed the assignment, James presented it to his class. We did family Christmas pictures this year with a great photographer.  We met at Minute Man National Park - where Paul Revere was captured- and had fun taking pictures together.  I worked the night before and it was cold out, but the pictures still turned out great! The 2014 Walters Family Christmas picture! My two cuti...
