Preparing for Christmas!

Christmas is almost here! My mom and Marthaa will be arriving within the next few days and there's still so much to do. In addition to Christmas shopping, grocery shopping, and house cleaning I'm also taking the GRE later this week and trying to get the rest of my college applications in!

Yesterday, James and I got the majority of our Christmas shopping done and today we're going to brave the post office to mail out our gifts. He does pretty well out and about. Yesterday while shopping people would ask how old he was, and were in shock to learn he's only 6 weeks old! He really is growing so fast and he's so much more alert. When shopping yesterday we had to buy socks size 12 -24 months! He's gonna be tall!

His sleep habits are also improving. Last night he slept from 11 to 4 straight through! That's the longest stretch we've had so far!

We were given the opportunity to play the Holy Family in our church's Christmas performance this past Sunday and Monday. James did well both nights but on Monday night he was probably about as perfect as a baby can be! Honestly- that's not just a proud mama saying that! I will post pictures of that when I get some.

Also, we went to a Christmas party our Adoption Agency hosted on Friday. We thought James would be the youngest guy there, but 2 more babies have been placed since James was born. So in the past 6 weeks, they've placed 3 babies! What miracles for all the families!

Fast as the Flash

The boys have a need for speed!  Recently James and Eli built Pine Wood derby cars to compete in the James' Boy Scout troop. In the beginning... We did some scholarly research to prepare.  Thank you YouTube! My step-dad, AKA Pawpaw was a big help and taught James to use power tools. Sanding is always fun! James designed and built his car with minimal assistance. Spray paint is always fun. Added weights to make it as heavy as the rules allowed. The finished products! The race was a lot of fun! James didn't win but he worked really hard and was really proud of his car. While his derby car wasn't the fastest, James was the fastest in a recent track race.  My future Olympic sprinter!   Zoom zoom zoom

M-I-C-K-E-Y and a bunch of other fun stuff

Everyone grab their Mickey Ears!  We just returned from a wonderful vacation to Walt Disney World.  We flew down to FL from MA, my sister and her beautiful family and my aunt and cousin all flew from CA, and my mom traveled from MO!   All 11 of us stayed in one beautiful villa right on the Walt Disney property and had a great time. We celebrated JillMama's 60th birthday in style.   We also celebrated my nephew's 2nd birthday while in WDW! Everyone had a great time! We celebrated Halloween a little early at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!   Can you tell we're the Avengers!?!  Eli was the Incredible Hulk, Tobias was Tony Stark (AKA Iron Man), James was Captain America, and I was Black Widow. By the end of the night, the Incredible Hulk was done, but still really cute! Gabe (age 4) and James got along great! Elias and Gavin (also 2) were fast friends too. Fun times on a ride with my little man! Rrrr Matey!  ...

Winter in Boston

Happy February!  I can't believe I haven't updated since November when we've had such an exciting couple of months!   Our Lego family for Christmas 2014 designed by James!  There are a lot of firsts and developmental milestones in first grade!  James finished his first chapter book over the Christmas break!  So proud of him - he is reading above grade level. James also remains very active with track and is working with his gym teacher to start a running club at his elementary school! This was a fun assignment for the entire family.  Once he completed the assignment, James presented it to his class. We did family Christmas pictures this year with a great photographer.  We met at Minute Man National Park - where Paul Revere was captured- and had fun taking pictures together.  I worked the night before and it was cold out, but the pictures still turned out great! The 2014 Walters Family Christmas picture! My two cuti...
