Another Exciting James Update!

Earlier this month James had his 4 month checkup. He's now 27.5 inches long (that's above the 95th percentile) and 16.8 lbs (75th percentile). The shots and everything went well for James and developmentally he's doing great. At the appointment we got the go-ahead to start feeding James food.

So far we've tried fresh bananas mixed in with rice cereal, pears, peas, and carrots. Any guess what he was eating when we took this picture?Carrots are by far his favorite. Weird, we know, but he loves them.

James is also learning to roll over, he did it twice this morning. He doesn't love belly time, but it's important developmentally, so we have him on his belly a lot these days.He loves the little tractor from Grandpa and Grandma Walters and will push it between both hands. It's funny to watch him because it takes a lot of concentration to move that little tractor.

James was also lucky enough to have his first trip to the zoo last week. Tobias' good friend from all the way back in boot camp, Andy, was here for a couple of days. Andy, who was also one of the groomsmen in our wedding, is James' God Father. This is a picture of Andy and James at the zoo. The only part of the zoo James really seemed to enjoy were the flamingos.

Tobias and James have really enjoyed spending some time together. Tobias is really going to have a hard time being gone for so long.

Busy week for this guy - eating, jumping, playing, and spending time with his dad.

Fast as the Flash

The boys have a need for speed!  Recently James and Eli built Pine Wood derby cars to compete in the James' Boy Scout troop. In the beginning... We did some scholarly research to prepare.  Thank you YouTube! My step-dad, AKA Pawpaw was a big help and taught James to use power tools. Sanding is always fun! James designed and built his car with minimal assistance. Spray paint is always fun. Added weights to make it as heavy as the rules allowed. The finished products! The race was a lot of fun! James didn't win but he worked really hard and was really proud of his car. While his derby car wasn't the fastest, James was the fastest in a recent track race.  My future Olympic sprinter!   Zoom zoom zoom

Everyone grab their Mickey Ears!  We just returned from a wonderful vacation to Walt Disney World.  We flew down to FL from MA, my sister and her beautiful family and my aunt and cousin all flew from CA, and my mom traveled from MO!   All 11 of us stayed in one beautiful villa right on the Walt Disney property and had a great time. We celebrated JillMama's 60th birthday in style.   We also celebrated my nephew's 2nd birthday while in WDW! Everyone had a great time! We celebrated Halloween a little early at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!   Can you tell we're the Avengers!?!  Eli was the Incredible Hulk, Tobias was Tony Stark (AKA Iron Man), James was Captain America, and I was Black Widow. By the end of the night, the Incredible Hulk was done, but still really cute! Gabe (age 4) and James got along great! Elias and Gavin (also 2) were fast friends too. Fun times on a ride with my little man! Rrrr Matey!  ...

Winter in Boston

Happy February!  I can't believe I haven't updated since November when we've had such an exciting couple of months!   Our Lego family for Christmas 2014 designed by James!  There are a lot of firsts and developmental milestones in first grade!  James finished his first chapter book over the Christmas break!  So proud of him - he is reading above grade level. James also remains very active with track and is working with his gym teacher to start a running club at his elementary school! This was a fun assignment for the entire family.  Once he completed the assignment, James presented it to his class. We did family Christmas pictures this year with a great photographer.  We met at Minute Man National Park - where Paul Revere was captured- and had fun taking pictures together.  I worked the night before and it was cold out, but the pictures still turned out great! The 2014 Walters Family Christmas picture! My two cuti...
