First Birthday!

James' first birthday is actually tomorrow, November 2, but we celebrated today. Our church is throwing a big bash tomorrow after the service and then a friend is having an adoption party (to celebrate her finalization) in the late afternoon. Since we were so busy Sunday, we threw a party today.
We have dear friends, Al and Lorrin, from church - who have adopted us! When Tobias was gone James and I spent every Saturday evening with them, and we loved it. This afternoon we had a great time celebrating James' birthday with them.
Al and James share a special moment this afternoon.

Lorrin and James played a very special rendition of Happy Birthday for us on the piano. It was unique! Lorrin made a wonderful birthday dinner for James and very special birthday cupcakes with sprinkles on top.
James really enjoyed the cupcakes.
Al and Lorrin had balloons for him, and those were a huge hit for James.
My mom bought James a tricycle that is like a stroller and tricycle hybrid. James loved it!

James received several wonderful gifts from family! Thank you for your generosity.

For Halloween we didn't do too much, but James was able to dress up at his day care. We dressed him up as a Jaguar. James looked awsome, but he was (clearly) not into the pictures.
Bond. Sweet Baby James Bond.
Tobias' sister, Crystal, is getting married next month and James is escorting Grandma Edie down the isle. We picked up the tux in honor of her wedding.
Tobias and James before Tobias left for work. James is still in his pajamas.
James and Bandit before church last week. So sweet!
Just some sweet pictures of James we wanted to share.
And since this is his one year blog post, I thought it would be appropriate to take a trip down memory lane.

It's been an amazing year. We are so thankful for James. He is such a special kid.

Fast as the Flash

The boys have a need for speed!  Recently James and Eli built Pine Wood derby cars to compete in the James' Boy Scout troop. In the beginning... We did some scholarly research to prepare.  Thank you YouTube! My step-dad, AKA Pawpaw was a big help and taught James to use power tools. Sanding is always fun! James designed and built his car with minimal assistance. Spray paint is always fun. Added weights to make it as heavy as the rules allowed. The finished products! The race was a lot of fun! James didn't win but he worked really hard and was really proud of his car. While his derby car wasn't the fastest, James was the fastest in a recent track race.  My future Olympic sprinter!   Zoom zoom zoom

Everyone grab their Mickey Ears!  We just returned from a wonderful vacation to Walt Disney World.  We flew down to FL from MA, my sister and her beautiful family and my aunt and cousin all flew from CA, and my mom traveled from MO!   All 11 of us stayed in one beautiful villa right on the Walt Disney property and had a great time. We celebrated JillMama's 60th birthday in style.   We also celebrated my nephew's 2nd birthday while in WDW! Everyone had a great time! We celebrated Halloween a little early at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!   Can you tell we're the Avengers!?!  Eli was the Incredible Hulk, Tobias was Tony Stark (AKA Iron Man), James was Captain America, and I was Black Widow. By the end of the night, the Incredible Hulk was done, but still really cute! Gabe (age 4) and James got along great! Elias and Gavin (also 2) were fast friends too. Fun times on a ride with my little man! Rrrr Matey!  ...

Winter in Boston

Happy February!  I can't believe I haven't updated since November when we've had such an exciting couple of months!   Our Lego family for Christmas 2014 designed by James!  There are a lot of firsts and developmental milestones in first grade!  James finished his first chapter book over the Christmas break!  So proud of him - he is reading above grade level. James also remains very active with track and is working with his gym teacher to start a running club at his elementary school! This was a fun assignment for the entire family.  Once he completed the assignment, James presented it to his class. We did family Christmas pictures this year with a great photographer.  We met at Minute Man National Park - where Paul Revere was captured- and had fun taking pictures together.  I worked the night before and it was cold out, but the pictures still turned out great! The 2014 Walters Family Christmas picture! My two cuti...
