5 days 'til Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner and we're just about ready. Our tree is up, presents are under the tree, and stockings are hung. But before I go into Christmas, I should update on what we've been up to for the first part of December.
We traveled to KS. James even got his own seat on the airplane. It was a hard trip - we left Friday morning, flew to Denver, and then drove 200 miles to St. Francis, KS. We came home on Sunday. We wouldn't have done such a trip for anyone except Crystal, Tobias' sister.Crystal was an absolutely beautiful bride. Their wedding and reception were a blast and we were so thankful to be included in her special day.Tobias and James were ushers and I was a bridesmaid. James and Tobias escorted Grandma Edie down the isle and were so darn cute!Tobias, Kyle (the groom), and Josh (Tobias' younger brother) at the reception hall. What a handsome group! This is a really funny picture to me. It's Tobias and his youngest two siblings, Teri and Josh. After the wedding, I finished up my semester at school and started feeling more excited about Christmas. James is also starting to feel the Christmas spirit! Here James is showing off his fancy Christmas duds. The weather here has been great. Since I have a couple of weeks off from school I've been able to enjoy some quality time with James. We went and played at the park earlier in the week. He's at such a fun age now!Did I mention that the weather's been great here? Tobias, James, Bandit (our dog), and I enjoyed a morning at the beach today. The closest thing this Florida baby will get a snow man this winter.James collecting sea shells. Have I recruited anyone to visit us for Christmas yet?!Merry Christmas!

Fast as the Flash

The boys have a need for speed!  Recently James and Eli built Pine Wood derby cars to compete in the James' Boy Scout troop. In the beginning... We did some scholarly research to prepare.  Thank you YouTube! My step-dad, AKA Pawpaw was a big help and taught James to use power tools. Sanding is always fun! James designed and built his car with minimal assistance. Spray paint is always fun. Added weights to make it as heavy as the rules allowed. The finished products! The race was a lot of fun! James didn't win but he worked really hard and was really proud of his car. While his derby car wasn't the fastest, James was the fastest in a recent track race.  My future Olympic sprinter!   Zoom zoom zoom

M-I-C-K-E-Y and a bunch of other fun stuff

Everyone grab their Mickey Ears!  We just returned from a wonderful vacation to Walt Disney World.  We flew down to FL from MA, my sister and her beautiful family and my aunt and cousin all flew from CA, and my mom traveled from MO!   All 11 of us stayed in one beautiful villa right on the Walt Disney property and had a great time. We celebrated JillMama's 60th birthday in style.   We also celebrated my nephew's 2nd birthday while in WDW! Everyone had a great time! We celebrated Halloween a little early at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!   Can you tell we're the Avengers!?!  Eli was the Incredible Hulk, Tobias was Tony Stark (AKA Iron Man), James was Captain America, and I was Black Widow. By the end of the night, the Incredible Hulk was done, but still really cute! Gabe (age 4) and James got along great! Elias and Gavin (also 2) were fast friends too. Fun times on a ride with my little man! Rrrr Matey!  ...

Winter in Boston

Happy February!  I can't believe I haven't updated since November when we've had such an exciting couple of months!   Our Lego family for Christmas 2014 designed by James!  There are a lot of firsts and developmental milestones in first grade!  James finished his first chapter book over the Christmas break!  So proud of him - he is reading above grade level. James also remains very active with track and is working with his gym teacher to start a running club at his elementary school! This was a fun assignment for the entire family.  Once he completed the assignment, James presented it to his class. We did family Christmas pictures this year with a great photographer.  We met at Minute Man National Park - where Paul Revere was captured- and had fun taking pictures together.  I worked the night before and it was cold out, but the pictures still turned out great! The 2014 Walters Family Christmas picture! My two cuti...
