Trip to Minnesota

We spent the last few days visiting family in Northern Minnesota. It was a lot of fun for everyone, especially James, who had the opportunity to play in the snow for the first time. Here's James helping to sweep off the front steps! Such a big helper!James also enjoyed exploring the beautiful outdoors.
James really enjoyed this little bridge. I think we walked across it about fifty times! After playing outside, James' Great-Aunt Tootsie was waiting inside with cookies and milk! Yummy! Another highlight of the trip was the opportunity to see my dad, Grandpa Mel, in Minnesota. My dad was there for business the first part of the trip and we met up for the last half of the trip. Here's Grandpa Mel introducing James to a Norweigan delight, leftsa. One of the neatest things about this trip was to visit the Walters farmstead. James was the 5th generation Walters on this farm that was settled by my ancestors.
Here is James riding his first tractor. He makes a great farmer!
Here he is showing his favorite John Deer tractor. James is partial to green tractors!
We had a wonderful trip and are thankful to be back home in the warm Florida weather!

What a wonderful experience for him. He sure looks cold but didn't seem to mind. He looks sooo cute and soooo grown up.

Fast as the Flash

The boys have a need for speed!  Recently James and Eli built Pine Wood derby cars to compete in the James' Boy Scout troop. In the beginning... We did some scholarly research to prepare.  Thank you YouTube! My step-dad, AKA Pawpaw was a big help and taught James to use power tools. Sanding is always fun! James designed and built his car with minimal assistance. Spray paint is always fun. Added weights to make it as heavy as the rules allowed. The finished products! The race was a lot of fun! James didn't win but he worked really hard and was really proud of his car. While his derby car wasn't the fastest, James was the fastest in a recent track race.  My future Olympic sprinter!   Zoom zoom zoom

M-I-C-K-E-Y and a bunch of other fun stuff

Everyone grab their Mickey Ears!  We just returned from a wonderful vacation to Walt Disney World.  We flew down to FL from MA, my sister and her beautiful family and my aunt and cousin all flew from CA, and my mom traveled from MO!   All 11 of us stayed in one beautiful villa right on the Walt Disney property and had a great time. We celebrated JillMama's 60th birthday in style.   We also celebrated my nephew's 2nd birthday while in WDW! Everyone had a great time! We celebrated Halloween a little early at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!   Can you tell we're the Avengers!?!  Eli was the Incredible Hulk, Tobias was Tony Stark (AKA Iron Man), James was Captain America, and I was Black Widow. By the end of the night, the Incredible Hulk was done, but still really cute! Gabe (age 4) and James got along great! Elias and Gavin (also 2) were fast friends too. Fun times on a ride with my little man! Rrrr Matey!  ...

Winter in Boston

Happy February!  I can't believe I haven't updated since November when we've had such an exciting couple of months!   Our Lego family for Christmas 2014 designed by James!  There are a lot of firsts and developmental milestones in first grade!  James finished his first chapter book over the Christmas break!  So proud of him - he is reading above grade level. James also remains very active with track and is working with his gym teacher to start a running club at his elementary school! This was a fun assignment for the entire family.  Once he completed the assignment, James presented it to his class. We did family Christmas pictures this year with a great photographer.  We met at Minute Man National Park - where Paul Revere was captured- and had fun taking pictures together.  I worked the night before and it was cold out, but the pictures still turned out great! The 2014 Walters Family Christmas picture! My two cuti...
