Go Navy! Beat Army!

Go Navy, Navy, Navy! Beat Army, Army, Army! I'm doing this update while watching the 111th Army-Navy game. Check out James proudly wearing Navy Blue and Gold! Definitely a future midshipmen and Tobias thinks Navy tight end. This morning we went to Tobias' squadron for the Children's Christmas Party! James was able to sit with Santa and even got an early Christmas present!
This will be a very special Christmas this year, for many reasons. James is super excited about opening Christmas presents. Here he is checking out some of the presents already under our tree. This Christmas will also be special because we are mourning the loss of our baby. This is a picture of our first ultrasound at about 12 weeks. We heard a healthy heart beat and the baby was moving around. Unfortunately, at my 14 week appointment there was no fetal heart beat to be found. We are very upset for the loss of one child, but are so thankful for our James who continues to brighten our lives.
My mom, Jill Mama, came out to help us cope with everything earlier this week. She and James had a blast, here they are playing a board game. This was James' first experience with a board game - it was so funny! We have tried to keep life as normal as possible during this difficult time. We made ginger bread boy cookies, which James really enjoyed. Here we are baking a cake earlier this month. James gets to taste a bit since he's my little helper!
James and Daddy had some time together working on a school project earlier this month too. It was James' first "homework" assignment. We went all out with markers, stickers, and glitter glue!
Here is a handsome man wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas!

We are so sorry for your loss. I'll bet James was looking forward to a sibling. I hope your holidays are very special. I think James has some very good art talent going on there. Huh, an artistic football player. Merry Christmas!!!

Fast as the Flash

The boys have a need for speed!  Recently James and Eli built Pine Wood derby cars to compete in the James' Boy Scout troop. In the beginning... We did some scholarly research to prepare.  Thank you YouTube! My step-dad, AKA Pawpaw was a big help and taught James to use power tools. Sanding is always fun! James designed and built his car with minimal assistance. Spray paint is always fun. Added weights to make it as heavy as the rules allowed. The finished products! The race was a lot of fun! James didn't win but he worked really hard and was really proud of his car. While his derby car wasn't the fastest, James was the fastest in a recent track race.  My future Olympic sprinter!   Zoom zoom zoom

M-I-C-K-E-Y and a bunch of other fun stuff

Everyone grab their Mickey Ears!  We just returned from a wonderful vacation to Walt Disney World.  We flew down to FL from MA, my sister and her beautiful family and my aunt and cousin all flew from CA, and my mom traveled from MO!   All 11 of us stayed in one beautiful villa right on the Walt Disney property and had a great time. We celebrated JillMama's 60th birthday in style.   We also celebrated my nephew's 2nd birthday while in WDW! Everyone had a great time! We celebrated Halloween a little early at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!   Can you tell we're the Avengers!?!  Eli was the Incredible Hulk, Tobias was Tony Stark (AKA Iron Man), James was Captain America, and I was Black Widow. By the end of the night, the Incredible Hulk was done, but still really cute! Gabe (age 4) and James got along great! Elias and Gavin (also 2) were fast friends too. Fun times on a ride with my little man! Rrrr Matey!  ...

Winter in Boston

Happy February!  I can't believe I haven't updated since November when we've had such an exciting couple of months!   Our Lego family for Christmas 2014 designed by James!  There are a lot of firsts and developmental milestones in first grade!  James finished his first chapter book over the Christmas break!  So proud of him - he is reading above grade level. James also remains very active with track and is working with his gym teacher to start a running club at his elementary school! This was a fun assignment for the entire family.  Once he completed the assignment, James presented it to his class. We did family Christmas pictures this year with a great photographer.  We met at Minute Man National Park - where Paul Revere was captured- and had fun taking pictures together.  I worked the night before and it was cold out, but the pictures still turned out great! The 2014 Walters Family Christmas picture! My two cuti...
