Trip to Kansas

We had the opportunity to visit Tobias' family in Kansas a couple of weeks ago and had a blast. James is a true farm boy!Hard to tell from this picture, but James is on the 4-wheeler with Aunt Crystal helping herd a 2,000+ lb bull into the corral. James is fearless (notice how far away I am taking the picture)!

James also helped fix fence with Grandpa. James learned about electric fences and how to test to see if a fence is 'live.'When he wasn't out working on the farm, James had plenty of time for some cuddle time!

Uncle Josh found a creative (and tasty) way for James to learn to spell his name.

Uncle Josh, James, and Hank on the 4-wheeler.

James and Uncle Josh taking a break on the fence.

Mommy and Daddy even rode the 4-wheeler.

One of the most exciting parts of the trip was sharing the gender of our new baby with Tobias' family. We had just found out a couple of days before the trip and asked Teri, who is just a couple of months from graduating from culinary school to do a gender reveal cake.

The idea behind a gender reveal cake is that no one (except the baker) knows if the baby is a boy or a girl. Everyone finds out after the cake is cut since the outside is gender neutral. We didn't expect Teri to go all out on this cake - but it was as tasty as it was beautiful!
It's a boy! That's a blue velvet cake with cream cheese icing for the top and bottom cakes and a vanilla cake with blue icing for the middle cake.

The baby is growing... and so am I! So excited to be a mom of boys and Tobias couldn't be more thrilled.
Back home, James is busy helping us prepare for his baby brother. Here he has put Bear Bear in a onesie and is burping him. Best big brother ever!

congratulations again! so excited for you and I'm sure James is glad to be having a sports buddy. He sure is growing fast and looks like he's learning to be pretty handy.

Fast as the Flash

The boys have a need for speed!  Recently James and Eli built Pine Wood derby cars to compete in the James' Boy Scout troop. In the beginning... We did some scholarly research to prepare.  Thank you YouTube! My step-dad, AKA Pawpaw was a big help and taught James to use power tools. Sanding is always fun! James designed and built his car with minimal assistance. Spray paint is always fun. Added weights to make it as heavy as the rules allowed. The finished products! The race was a lot of fun! James didn't win but he worked really hard and was really proud of his car. While his derby car wasn't the fastest, James was the fastest in a recent track race.  My future Olympic sprinter!   Zoom zoom zoom

Everyone grab their Mickey Ears!  We just returned from a wonderful vacation to Walt Disney World.  We flew down to FL from MA, my sister and her beautiful family and my aunt and cousin all flew from CA, and my mom traveled from MO!   All 11 of us stayed in one beautiful villa right on the Walt Disney property and had a great time. We celebrated JillMama's 60th birthday in style.   We also celebrated my nephew's 2nd birthday while in WDW! Everyone had a great time! We celebrated Halloween a little early at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!   Can you tell we're the Avengers!?!  Eli was the Incredible Hulk, Tobias was Tony Stark (AKA Iron Man), James was Captain America, and I was Black Widow. By the end of the night, the Incredible Hulk was done, but still really cute! Gabe (age 4) and James got along great! Elias and Gavin (also 2) were fast friends too. Fun times on a ride with my little man! Rrrr Matey!  ...

Winter in Boston

Happy February!  I can't believe I haven't updated since November when we've had such an exciting couple of months!   Our Lego family for Christmas 2014 designed by James!  There are a lot of firsts and developmental milestones in first grade!  James finished his first chapter book over the Christmas break!  So proud of him - he is reading above grade level. James also remains very active with track and is working with his gym teacher to start a running club at his elementary school! This was a fun assignment for the entire family.  Once he completed the assignment, James presented it to his class. We did family Christmas pictures this year with a great photographer.  We met at Minute Man National Park - where Paul Revere was captured- and had fun taking pictures together.  I worked the night before and it was cold out, but the pictures still turned out great! The 2014 Walters Family Christmas picture! My two cuti...
