Happy Birthday!

Birthday time around here starts in October - we celebrated Tobias' 35th birthday and my 30th birthday just before Halloween. James really enjoyed Halloween this year, especially carving his pumpkin with Tobias.Trick or Treat time for James and his best buddy, Abby. James thought Abby was a beautiful mermaid, but thought she would like being a super hero with him more! Happy Halloween from Spiderman! We had a wonderful birthday party for James this year. One of my dear friends is a phenomenal party planner and made the cake, decorations, and James' special birthday shirt!James wanted a banana flavored Spiderman cake and that's exactly what he got - lucky boy! And the cake tasted as good as it looked!Check out that smile - James in his special birthday shirt!

We had a pizza party for James and his buddies - they watched a Spiderman cartoon while eating pizza and then time for cake and ice cream. Fun times.James also enjoyed a special birthday party at his school. He even got a crown to wear during snack time where he shared his special cupcakes with his buddies.James' special cupcakes for his party at school - don't the look amazing!?!For his birthday dinner, James chose brenner - breakfast for dinner. We had Canadian bacon and chocolate chip pancakes! James even ate off our special family plate that says "God thinks you're special today... and everyday!"
James loved all his presents - he really enjoyed playing with his one of friends from school for a while after his party was over. Those boys played so nicely together!James loves puzzles and we worked together to put together his new floor puzzle. Fun times! The presents were great, but like every child, James also enjoyed popping the packaging bubbles almost as much as the presents themselves!

We are working on our thank you notes now, and I'm so proud to see what a nice job James is doing learning to write his name!

We also took James for his 4 year check up and he is 45.5 inches tall (way above the 95th percentile for height) and 44.8 pounds (exactly 95th percentile for weight) - I just had to brag about those stats!

Fast as the Flash

The boys have a need for speed!  Recently James and Eli built Pine Wood derby cars to compete in the James' Boy Scout troop. In the beginning... We did some scholarly research to prepare.  Thank you YouTube! My step-dad, AKA Pawpaw was a big help and taught James to use power tools. Sanding is always fun! James designed and built his car with minimal assistance. Spray paint is always fun. Added weights to make it as heavy as the rules allowed. The finished products! The race was a lot of fun! James didn't win but he worked really hard and was really proud of his car. While his derby car wasn't the fastest, James was the fastest in a recent track race.  My future Olympic sprinter!   Zoom zoom zoom

Everyone grab their Mickey Ears!  We just returned from a wonderful vacation to Walt Disney World.  We flew down to FL from MA, my sister and her beautiful family and my aunt and cousin all flew from CA, and my mom traveled from MO!   All 11 of us stayed in one beautiful villa right on the Walt Disney property and had a great time. We celebrated JillMama's 60th birthday in style.   We also celebrated my nephew's 2nd birthday while in WDW! Everyone had a great time! We celebrated Halloween a little early at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!   Can you tell we're the Avengers!?!  Eli was the Incredible Hulk, Tobias was Tony Stark (AKA Iron Man), James was Captain America, and I was Black Widow. By the end of the night, the Incredible Hulk was done, but still really cute! Gabe (age 4) and James got along great! Elias and Gavin (also 2) were fast friends too. Fun times on a ride with my little man! Rrrr Matey!  ...

Winter in Boston

Happy February!  I can't believe I haven't updated since November when we've had such an exciting couple of months!   Our Lego family for Christmas 2014 designed by James!  There are a lot of firsts and developmental milestones in first grade!  James finished his first chapter book over the Christmas break!  So proud of him - he is reading above grade level. James also remains very active with track and is working with his gym teacher to start a running club at his elementary school! This was a fun assignment for the entire family.  Once he completed the assignment, James presented it to his class. We did family Christmas pictures this year with a great photographer.  We met at Minute Man National Park - where Paul Revere was captured- and had fun taking pictures together.  I worked the night before and it was cold out, but the pictures still turned out great! The 2014 Walters Family Christmas picture! My two cuti...
