My Boys!

The only thing better than being a mom of one boy is being a mom of 2 boys!

James continues to be a great big brother and very involved in his little brother's development.
They have some very serious conversations!

James knows how to hold his brother and support his head.

Here is James educating Cubby on the different types of animals on his blanket.
Sometimes the boys just enjoy some quiet bonding time.
We do kangaroo care with Cubby, which basically skin to skin cuddling. James came home from school one day and took off his shirt and asked to hold Cubby. Cubby loved it, of course!More brother bonding time!Sometimes Daddy even gets in on the male bonding time! I love these handsome guys!
Family story time right before bed is always fun.

Mommy snuggles...

Daddy snuggles!
Tobias' parents were out for a week visit. We all had so much fun. 3 generations of Walters men - what a great looking group of guys!Grandpa and his grandsons!
Grandpa and James spent a lot of time outside since our winter remains very mild.

James is finally showing an interest in riding his bike. We had a hard time getting him interested since he can run so much fast!

Grandma also enjoyed her time with her new grandson.I just love mother - son pictures!

James and Daddy playing around!Cubby with Cubby Bear, the bear that James made for him.

These are the pictures from the hospital before Cubby was discharged. He is growing and gaining weight. At 4.5 weeks old he was 7lbs 14 oz which was what James weighed at birth!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I love the food and there is no pressure like there is with Christmas. This Thanksgiving weekend has been wonderful. We started off the celebration by ringing the Salvation Army bell on Tuesday afternoon. James was a big hit! Sorry we didn't get pictures of that. James' school hosted a Thanksgiving luncheon on Wednesday that Tobias and I were able to attend. They had all the kids decked out like little pilgrims. It was super cute! My dad came out on Wednesday evening. He hadn't seen James since May, so they had a lot of catching up to do. Chris, a friend of ours who is a ROTC instructor at Villanova , came down for the day too. Chris and James had a great time together - too bad Chris only stayed for dinner on Thursday before heading back up North. James enjoyed his first piece of pumpkin pie on Thursday too. It was obviously a big hit! My favorite part of Thanksgiving is the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade. We usually don...

Summer, Summer, Summer Time!

We have enjoyed exploring more of Southern Maryland this past month. We explored a local light house! James and his ol' buddy tried out sailing at the local maritime museum. And James even tried his hand at being a pirate. Arrrr, Matey! But the best part of summer is enjoying time with our friends - fun while shucking some fresh corn. James is learning lots of new songs at his new school. Here is he is singing for your enjoyment while eating some lunch. One of the perks of living near a Naval Base is being able to enjoy a wonderful airshow. This was a special airshow this Labor Day Weekend, celebrating 100 years of Naval Aviation. This was James' first time seeing the Blue Angels fly. He was pretty impressed, but thought they were too noisy! In exciting family news - James is excited to announce that he will soon be a big brother. We are expecting a baby in late January.

James Has Arrived

Welcome to the world James Douglas Walters! He joined us yesterday at 6:16 pm Eastern Daylight Time. He weighed in at 7lb 14 oz and 21.5 inches long! He's long and lean. Tobias says we can call him 'Slim.' Everything with the labor went very well for the birth mother and I was actually in the delivery room for the birth. I also got to cut the umbilical cord. Wow, what an exciting experience. His birth mother did very well and seems to still be comfortable with her adoption plan. Tobias and I arrived at the hospital yesterday about 11pm, so we weren't really there for very long. While we waited we tailgated for a while (we needed some energy), which we thought was kinda funny. We stayed at the hospital until about 1am last night and were back this morning. Things are going so fast and it's such an amazing experience. We are so thankful for everyones thoughts and prayers. He's a very healthy baby - APGAR score of 9.9! We know you're just wanting to see p...
