Summer Vacation

We just returned from a great Summer vacation.  Tobias successfully completed his first semester at MIT and had a couple weeks off so we visited some friends and family.  James actually doesn't finish school until the end of June, but his teacher was very understanding.
It was wonderful to visit Tobias' family in KS.

The weather was perfect while we were there and the evening storms were breathtaking.

Exploring some of the wheat fields.  James' school planted winter wheat and so did Grandpa Jim.  James really enjoyed seeing the beautiful KS wheat.

This was a great life lesson.  We spent some time cleaning out a large stock tank, filled it back up with clean water, and enjoyed a really nice swimming pool.  Sometimes in life you need to do some yucky stuff to enjoy some fun!
Can you see the goldfish?  The fish were rescued and the kids loved swimming with the fish.  We had so much fun in the clean tank that I didn't take any pictures - oops!
Spending time with Aunt Teri on the 4-wheeler.
Precious passengers on this ride!  That's our only niece up front!
Tobias' sister and her family have a really cool 4-wheeler that Eli enjoyed "driving."
Selfie with my little man!
Tobias' parents have started raising honey bees.
James had learned about honey bees in school and loved seeing the bees up close.
James was able to identify the Queen, drone, and worker bees.
Another new experience was making popcorn from corn.
Check it out!   Popcorn made by putting a corn cob in the microwave!

We were even able to celebrate Tobias' parent's 40th wedding anniversary!
Look at these love birds!
A great looking family (me and Tobias' BIL aren't pictured).
We also spent a couple of days visiting friends in MD during our vacation.  Drove to MD, flew to KS.
James and his good friends playing hide and go seek.
These are my two favorite farm kids ever!  Can you see the "wheat" they found?
While in MD, James was able to spend the day with his friends from his old school.  It was such a treat!
And there was even time for James to attend a pool party with his buddies.
James and his best buddy.  They were so happy to be together.  These two have written multiple letters over the past couple of months.

In other exciting news...
James has his new glasses now.
And James lost his first tooth!

Fast as the Flash

The boys have a need for speed!  Recently James and Eli built Pine Wood derby cars to compete in the James' Boy Scout troop. In the beginning... We did some scholarly research to prepare.  Thank you YouTube! My step-dad, AKA Pawpaw was a big help and taught James to use power tools. Sanding is always fun! James designed and built his car with minimal assistance. Spray paint is always fun. Added weights to make it as heavy as the rules allowed. The finished products! The race was a lot of fun! James didn't win but he worked really hard and was really proud of his car. While his derby car wasn't the fastest, James was the fastest in a recent track race.  My future Olympic sprinter!   Zoom zoom zoom

M-I-C-K-E-Y and a bunch of other fun stuff

Everyone grab their Mickey Ears!  We just returned from a wonderful vacation to Walt Disney World.  We flew down to FL from MA, my sister and her beautiful family and my aunt and cousin all flew from CA, and my mom traveled from MO!   All 11 of us stayed in one beautiful villa right on the Walt Disney property and had a great time. We celebrated JillMama's 60th birthday in style.   We also celebrated my nephew's 2nd birthday while in WDW! Everyone had a great time! We celebrated Halloween a little early at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!   Can you tell we're the Avengers!?!  Eli was the Incredible Hulk, Tobias was Tony Stark (AKA Iron Man), James was Captain America, and I was Black Widow. By the end of the night, the Incredible Hulk was done, but still really cute! Gabe (age 4) and James got along great! Elias and Gavin (also 2) were fast friends too. Fun times on a ride with my little man! Rrrr Matey!  ...

Winter in Boston

Happy February!  I can't believe I haven't updated since November when we've had such an exciting couple of months!   Our Lego family for Christmas 2014 designed by James!  There are a lot of firsts and developmental milestones in first grade!  James finished his first chapter book over the Christmas break!  So proud of him - he is reading above grade level. James also remains very active with track and is working with his gym teacher to start a running club at his elementary school! This was a fun assignment for the entire family.  Once he completed the assignment, James presented it to his class. We did family Christmas pictures this year with a great photographer.  We met at Minute Man National Park - where Paul Revere was captured- and had fun taking pictures together.  I worked the night before and it was cold out, but the pictures still turned out great! The 2014 Walters Family Christmas picture! My two cuti...
