Exploring Boston!

How does a family of four get around a busy city like Boston?  On their super cool cargo bike!
Cambridge has a lot of fun festivals.  The boys enjoyed the Cambridge Arts River Festival a few weeks ago.
We also really enjoyed the Chinese Dragon Boat festival earlier this summer as well.
The Boston Public Gardens is so beautiful.   Here are the boys in front of a statue of George Washington.
Another picture from the Public Gardens with the famous Swan Boats in the background.
You can't tour Boston without seeing something about the Pilgrims!
Boston also has some amazing parks that we all really enjoy!
Another wonderful thing about Boston is that my best friend and college roommate, Jill, is nearby when she visits her family.
Best friends since 1999!
Jill's sister lives right on a lake in NH and the boys had a great time swimming, fishing, and boating!
James and Jill's nephew took the paddle boat out too!
One of our friends here invited us camping, so we went camping!  It ended up being 3 moms (one of whom was 8 months pregnant) and 6 kids (5 of them boys) on a wonderful camping adventure in Southern RI.
The kids were great and had a blast.
S'mores... Yum, Yum!

Boston really knows how to celebrate the 4th of July!  We enjoyed hearing the Boston Pops and see the magnificent fireworks display right on MIT campus.

We had to have an ice cream cone - of course!

Truly the best fireworks display I have ever seen!
James finished outdoor track just last week.  He really enjoyed the season and performed really well.
James' favorite event is the long jump!
James won a first place medal in the long jump at one meet!
At another meet he won 1st in the 100m, 2nd in the 200m, and 5th in the standing long jump!
James is the leader of the pack!
Another race showing James up front!
James won 1st place in the 100m and in the 200m!  His friend and teammate was a very close second in both races!

Enjoying the summer with the boys!

Fast as the Flash

The boys have a need for speed!  Recently James and Eli built Pine Wood derby cars to compete in the James' Boy Scout troop. In the beginning... We did some scholarly research to prepare.  Thank you YouTube! My step-dad, AKA Pawpaw was a big help and taught James to use power tools. Sanding is always fun! James designed and built his car with minimal assistance. Spray paint is always fun. Added weights to make it as heavy as the rules allowed. The finished products! The race was a lot of fun! James didn't win but he worked really hard and was really proud of his car. While his derby car wasn't the fastest, James was the fastest in a recent track race.  My future Olympic sprinter!   Zoom zoom zoom

M-I-C-K-E-Y and a bunch of other fun stuff

Everyone grab their Mickey Ears!  We just returned from a wonderful vacation to Walt Disney World.  We flew down to FL from MA, my sister and her beautiful family and my aunt and cousin all flew from CA, and my mom traveled from MO!   All 11 of us stayed in one beautiful villa right on the Walt Disney property and had a great time. We celebrated JillMama's 60th birthday in style.   We also celebrated my nephew's 2nd birthday while in WDW! Everyone had a great time! We celebrated Halloween a little early at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!   Can you tell we're the Avengers!?!  Eli was the Incredible Hulk, Tobias was Tony Stark (AKA Iron Man), James was Captain America, and I was Black Widow. By the end of the night, the Incredible Hulk was done, but still really cute! Gabe (age 4) and James got along great! Elias and Gavin (also 2) were fast friends too. Fun times on a ride with my little man! Rrrr Matey!  ...

Winter in Boston

Happy February!  I can't believe I haven't updated since November when we've had such an exciting couple of months!   Our Lego family for Christmas 2014 designed by James!  There are a lot of firsts and developmental milestones in first grade!  James finished his first chapter book over the Christmas break!  So proud of him - he is reading above grade level. James also remains very active with track and is working with his gym teacher to start a running club at his elementary school! This was a fun assignment for the entire family.  Once he completed the assignment, James presented it to his class. We did family Christmas pictures this year with a great photographer.  We met at Minute Man National Park - where Paul Revere was captured- and had fun taking pictures together.  I worked the night before and it was cold out, but the pictures still turned out great! The 2014 Walters Family Christmas picture! My two cuti...
